THE CASHEN COURSE – by Robert Trent Jones
It’s simple really. If the Cashen Course at Ballybunion Golf Club were situated anywhere else, rather than adjacent to the world-famous Old Course, it would attract far more attention and plaudits than it does.
Although built on similar, stirring terrain to the Old Course in the 1980s, in many ways ‘the Cashen’ is more irascible, more spectacular, more brutal and more unforgiving and more difficult to tame than its older, more celebrated sibling.
In a strong wind, the Cashen links verges on being impossible – its dunes are higher, its valleys are deeper, its greens more undulating.
The links changes mood unrecognisably from one day to the next.
PRACTICE
Ballybunion was created for the pure enjoyment of golf. In order to help you prepare or warm up, we have a practice facility which incorporates:
• A driving range
• Chipping green with bunkers
Two putting greens are located beside the clubhouse, while a third putting green is located near the first tee on the Trent Jones Cashen Course.
